Port Lockroy at the post office
Hello my friends! Just returned from THE most harrowing shopping trip of my life! Again they said easy landing...this time it took 4 men and 3 women to get me up there. Is it any wonder I don't trust people!!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Expedition crew was outstanding again! Postcards are written and stamped. The 4 ladies that take care of Port Lockroy this summer will hand cancel them. This is a UK base so they will travel via other ships to the Falklands, to UK (where there is a postal strike at the moment), and on to your mailbox. This time they said 4 to 6 weeks. Oh I also adopted a penguin...a Gentoo. This base is maintained by charity only. So I donated 10 Brit pounds in each of your names. Now I need a shower! The base museum map room and pics of people and Gentoo penguins that all live around the post office, shop, museum, and living quarters for caretakers. Enjoying my cappuccino in Panorama Lounge. Sun is out and I'm snowblind! Wearing a new shirt I bought for the trip...you all know me...oversized, covers butt, long sleeve. Day Two of getting out on water and land!
Passing through Lemaire Channel. Early landing day. Not sure if I can do this one. Yesterday afternoon's crazy Zodiac adventure took it out on my left knee! Doesn't hurt perse but wobbly (as many of you know I ended up with a knee replacement 6 months later. Not from injury but OA). Fun fact...takes twice as long to shower when at sea.
